Well, it was mid October and I wanted to get a last ride up high into the
mountains. They had already had some snow up at the higher elevations and I
found some lurking in the shadows.

This is Green Valley Lake. It is a small lake tucked way back in the
woods. There are no motorized boats allowed. There are a couple places to
eat and a lot of cabins for rent. There were a lot of fishermen the day I
was there.

Ahhhh.... now this is riding up in the mountains. If you get the impression
this road is narrow.. It is. I don't go to close to that right side of the
road because there is no guard rail and it drops hundreds of feet. In some
areas maybe a few thousand feet. The mountain in the distance is San
Gorgonio at 11,499 ft. It is the highest in the area and yes it is topped
with snow.

The air is brisk and clear and very invigorating. On these back roads like
this traffic is almost non existent. Of course I am also only going 10 to 20
MPH as that's all the road allows. There are not many paved roads like this
that I can take the big Goldwing on. Most of the mountain roads like this are
dirt.

This is at the top of Keller Peak. On top of the world. It was 45 degrees up
here at 7882 feet. When I got home the temperature had gone up to 72. Almost a
30 degree difference.
