We were just north of Barstow to go driving in the desert. This is the
Mojave desert. The Mojave averages about 5 inches of rain a year. When
things are abandoned in the desert like this trailer they will remain for a
long time.

Out whole purpose was to go off road exploring. There were many dirt /
sand roads to go exploring down. We had borrowed a friends GPS system The
same model we are considering buying so we couldn't get lost.

We stopped under this Joshua tree to have our picnic lunch. It was 97
degrees in the sun but in the shade it was comfortable. In fact when the
breeze would blow it was very comfortable. The tree is one of the largest
Joshua trees I have ever seen.

All of the pictures I have are pretty flat. As we got closer to the hills in
the background here the road really got hilly. There were some pretty steep
climbs going through washes where we needed the extra ground clearance and all
wheel drive.
