The page is a collection of things along route 66 on the way to Kingman Arizona. This is an Xmas bush outside of Oatman, Each year they have a contest to see who can decorate the prettiest Xmas bush. They have to buy a permit to participate. After the event when they remove all decorations without hurting the desert bush they get their money from the permit back. |

A couple of the locals who have made Oatman Arizona famous. When the mines played out and the prospectors left they left their burros behind. |

There is a guy rebuilding this station to it's former glory. All that is left of the original structure if the two lighter colored parts of the vertical pillars. I have pictures of this before he even started work. The pictures are from two years ago. Last year we happened through here at some point and it was about half way done. It looks like he should have it done sometime in 2005. Pretty cool.... |

Well, I usually refrain from putting our mugs on this site. But, we have driven past the Gold Road Mine Tours many times and either did not have the cash or the time to take one of the tours. This time we did it! and had fun ! At this point in the mine we are a few hundred feet below Route 66 as the sign shows. |

This is a route 66 museum inside the Kingman Powerhouse Visitors Center and I highly recommend it. In high school I didn't pay much attention to American History but this was very interesting. This depicts the Okie's packing up all their belongings and heading out of Okalahoma during the Dust Bowl years. Kingman AZ had a couple of very good and interesting museums well worth stopping and exploring. Allow yourself a couple hours to explore the museums and sights in Kingman. We have been through Kingman many times but never had time to explore and as it was we didn't have enough this time. |
