Ahhh how to present photos from our trip to New Zealand. I have decided to post a few pages from different cities. Each city page will have photos from the city and the surrounding area.

As we drove into this town one of the first things we saw was this wonderful building which is the old Dunedin Railway Station. The lighting was just absolutely perfect for picture taking so we got out and explored. The railway station was first opened in 1906 and then was restored in 1999. It was built by New Zealand architect George A Troup who was nicknamed Gingerbread George.

The building was beautiful inside and out with great stained glass windows and a Royal Doulton tile mosaic floor. I have more then enough photos of this building to have a web page just on it but I'll refrain.<grin>

This is the First Church Presbyterian in Dunedin. The first stone for this church was laid in 1871. This is a view from the back. We were not in town during any time of the day when a nice picture could be taken from the front. :- (

The main church spire is 185 ft tall. The stone used is from local limestone from Oamaru quarries. Much of Dunedin is Scottish. The names of the streets and the architecture. This church is part of the First Church of Scotland. There are many gothic styled buildings in Dunedin.

This is the B&B we stayed in in Dunedin called Hulmes Court. It was an old restored Victorian. While the building itself was very nice the room accommodations were kind of small. It is in walking distance of the center of town so was very convenient. We would walk to dinner every night.

This is a view of the Dunedin harbor taken from the Otago Peninsula. We drove out on the peninsula to tour the Larnach Castle and go to the Royal Albatross Centre. By the time we got to the castle it was very overcast so I didn't post any pictures. The castle is now a private home and the owners allow tours of the castle and grounds. It is also a hotel. The Royal Albatross Centre has the only mainland colony of Albatross in the world. We only saw one fly and they are a huge bird. The area is very beautiful and I wish I had room to post more photos.

This picture shows the effects of tide on the Otago Peninsula. When we drove by in the morning this boat was floating.
