Our pool needed to be replastered and new tile. The old tile was cracking
and the plaster was starting to peel. Our pool tended to be cool. In the
middle of summer it rarely got above 79 degrees unless we used the solar
cover. The pool is pretty deep and the shallow end is very small so it takes
a lot to warm it up. This is before anything was done.

Here it is empty! We decided to change the color of the plaster from white
to grey. We were told it would help raise the temperature of the pool
water. Look at the colors of the tile and water in the photo above and the
color of the plaster in this photo. It is all going to change.

Here the plaster and the tile have been removed.

In this picture the new tile is done and they are plastering the pool. They
started the plaster at about 7:30 and were done about 10:30. The color of the
tile was chosen to kind of blend with the wall in the background.

Here the new plaster is done and the new tile installed and we are starting to
fill the pool. Right about now I am thinking oh no what did I do. Man is this water ugly!!!
The water stayed this ugly color and even worse for a few days.

25,000 gallons later and after the filter did it's thing
the water cleared up.
It is a darker color now and I can already see the water is warmer. It is
71 degrees on April 16th. I start using it to swim laps at 70. Brrrrr...
that is cold but I swam laps last night. This a full
month ahead of the last 3 years. It has taken me a while to get used to
the darker color of the water but I like it now.
The tile is more matched to the color of the walls and we choose the
earth tones for this reason. It just flows much better. Everybody uses
that ugly dark blue tile.
The whole construction process took 2 weeks and the water took another
week to clear up.
