UCR Botanical Gardens covers 40 acres of rugged hilly terrain. It has many different kinds of plants, trees and flowers growing here. I really struggled with what pictures to present because I have some great close-ups of many flowers, but I also wanted to show the grounds. Average rainfall in the gardens is about 10 inches per year.

I have tried many times to capture a bee like this but they usually move away and, with the digital camera's delay, I usually miss them. These photos were taken in mid November and the temperature was only about 70 degrees so they were moving slower. Be sure to click to enlarge this one.

This is a California Buckeye and tree. I don't know the difference between the California and Ohio buckeyes, but I had to take the photo.

Ahhh.... they even had some Oak trees with leaves showing color. They may not be as vibrant as the ones in Ohio, but they were pretty nonetheless. The gardens were first planted in 1963 and the price is right. They ask for a $1 donation and parking is FREE. We did make a donation.

It was a very odd day for pictures. Since it is late in the year, the sun is lower in the sky and not as harsh. This was taken about 1:00 in the afternoon. One direction was cloudy and the other mostly sunny.
