Indian Canyons in
Palm Springs

  

click photo to enlarge		 The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have canyons located on Indian Lands adjacent to Palm Springs. There are 4 canyons; Palm, Andreas, Murray and Tahquitz.. This page has pictures taken in Murray Canyon.

click photo to enlarge		 Again more flowers. We have done a lot of hiking this spring to enjoy the spring wildflowers in the desert and this day was more of the same. The Indian Canyons are very nicely maintained. The hike was fairly easy going but there were a number of stream crossings.

click photo to enlarge		 The hike up Murray canyon was about 2-1/2 miles each way. There are a few different Palm Oasis as you go through on the hike.

click photo to enlarge		 There is a stream that leads to a waterfalls at the end of the canyon. The stream was flowing pretty good this day. My understanding is that water only flows in spring and fall. It is dry during the summer. But there was a lot of water due to snow melt off high in the mountains.
