Taliesen West was Frank Lloyd Wrights winter camp in Scottsdale Arizona. The land was purchased by him in 1937. Upon entering the complex this rock greets you with it's petroglyphs..

Not being a student of architecture what strikes me about his style is the angularity. Everything is also built low to the ground so as not to detract from the surrounding scenery. The views from this terrace of the sonoran desert are very beautiful and striking.

He also uses a lot of the local materials in his buildings. Here you can see the local stone used in the walls. Tons of local stone were gathered and brought in from the local mountains and washes. The complex is still used today by architecture students.

More examples of the angles and the local rock in the walls. The roof of many of the buildings was canvas to allow in natural light.

This was his personal bedroom. Notice that the rock in the walls is not just outside but also inside. Everything is spartan and uncluttered. There is also a large amount of natural light because the one wall is pretty much all glass.
