I picked up Route 88 in Jackson California. Route 88 is a scenic byway that takes you though the pass named after the famous explorer Kit Carson. |

This is Silver Lake in the Eldorado National Forest at an elevation of 7200 ft. It was very pretty and as I got closer to the lake there were plenty of resorts. |

Carson Pass was the one most often used during the gold rush by the miners and also for shipping goods over the Sierras. |

Caples Lake is a man made reservoir. On the south end of the lake you can walk on the damn that created it. |

This is the general store in Markleeville. Markleeville is about 30 miles south of Lake Tahoe. I think the next time I go to the area I might stay in this town. |
