Carson Pass

I picked up Route 88 in Jackson California. Route 88 is a scenic byway that takes you though the pass named after the famous explorer Kit Carson.

This is Silver Lake in the Eldorado National Forest at an elevation of 7200 ft. It was very pretty and as I got closer to the lake there were plenty of resorts.

Carson Pass was the one most often used during the gold rush by the miners and also for shipping goods over the Sierras.

Caples Lake is a man made reservoir. On the south end of the lake you can walk on the damn that created it.

This is the general store in Markleeville. Markleeville is about 30 miles south of Lake Tahoe. I think the next time I go to the area I might stay in this town.
