On the drive from Laughlin to Kingman you pass through Oatman then through Sitgreaves Pass. We stopped here to enjoy one of our favorite things to do, a little picnic. It was a stunning day. Just beyond the car the hillside drops off rather steeply. We stopped here just before the summit to eat and enjoy the scenery. |

These last 3 pictures are of Cool Springs. A restored gas station.
Sitgreaves pass only has an elevation of 3500 feet or so but cars back in
the 20's and 30's could have a hard go of making it over the pass. There
were places to stay such as Cool Spring and Ed's Kamp along this stretch of
old route 66. For a picture of what this place looked like in 2002 see
this link. The owners have done a wonderful job restoring this place.
