Evey Canyon

Well, it was the 4th of July weekend and we had not been on a hike in a few
months. So, I decided to try this short 4 mile round trip hike. It was very
hot so we got an early start and were on the trail by about 8:30, early for
us. Evey Canyon up Potato Mountain is a low elevation hike. The start is at
2300 ft and the peak is at 3350 ft. This area burned in the 2003 Williams
fire. While the tree trunks ate blackened it didn't kill many of them and they
are coming back to life.

Because the hike is at low elevations and it had been so hot I expected
everything to already be browned out. We were pleasantly surprised at the
flowers still blooming and how green everything was.

Here are a few more flowers in bloom.

Evey Canyon empties into the San Antonio canyon and the San Antonio dam.

You can also see the scorched branches on the vegetation here.
