Mt. Baldy Living History Days

The Forest Service had  it's first Living History Days at the Mt. Baldy Visitors center. The purpose was to help people experience the history of Mt. Baldy with live demonstrations. This fellow was demonstrating a Blacksmith Shop.

This scene was an 1870's Gold Mining Camp. A little skit was put on to help the visitors get a better feel for what life was like at the camp.

There is a Native American Tongva Summer Camp on the grounds and there were two Tongva Indians explaining their history.

Their was a family enjoying a camping outing for the weekend.

There was an area for children to play games and arts and crafts. Other stops not shown were the Rangers House and the One Room School House. There was also entertainment and food available.
