Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

Monument Valley is a Navajo Tribal Park. It was used in the filming of many
western movies and also you have seen it in many commercials. It is composed
of beautiful sandstone formations rising from the valley floor.

There is a 14 mile dirt road that winds its way through the valley and is
kind of rough in places. The scenery if just breathtaking. The entry fee is
$5 per person.

This is one of the mittens, so called because of the thumb on the left of
the formation making it look like a hand in a mitten.

I included this picture because if you look closely at the enlarged photo
you will see the road winding through the valley and the tiny cars on the
road. It gives you an idea of the size of the valley and the monuments.

This was taken with a fish eye lens. If you look at the shadows on the ground
you will see I was just inches away from the this horse. These horses were waiting
for the wrangler to come and take a group on a horseback ride in the valley.
