Navajo National Monument was our first stop on our trip into the 4 corners area. For those that don't know, the 4 corners area is where Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado meet in a perfect square. It is the only place in the United States where this happens. |

The visitors center offers guided tours to the Betatakin ruin and this is the only way you are allowed to go. It is a 5-1/2 mile hike. At the time of year we were there the tour is only offered at 9:00 and we wee not even close to that. |

There are a couple overlook trails you can take to get views of the ruins. |

This is the Betatakin ruin as close as my camera could get. But we would see many other ruins over the next 10 days up close. The visitors center is located at 7300 feet and while we were there we got a little bit of snow. |

This is what the trail looked like on the overlook hikes, fairly typical of the National Park Service. |
