Pismo Beach is half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is a tourist oriented town with a lot of hotels/motels and campgrounds. The almost 1/4 mile long pier made a great place to take some pictures of the beach and the city. |

The day we were there was beautiful. The sun was out, there were pretty fluffy clouds around even if it was bit on the cool side. Pismo is famous for the Pismo Clams. However, the clam population has dropped so much they have very strict rules on the size and number you can collect. All the restaurants in town sell calm chowder however the clams they use are no longer from Pismo. |

Nearby is the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. I am going to have to go back some time and ride the dunes. |

There were many people surfing and I was determined to get a picture of them. However my camera makes it very difficult. First, I can't just leave the camera turned on as the battery goes dead quickly and I still had the rest of the day to take pictures. Then, since it is an electronic viewfinder when something is moving the refresh rate makes it hard to keep them in the viewfinder. Finally, when you click the shutter there is a delay before it actually snaps the picture. For example, there was somebody riding the wave when I hit the shutter on this picture but he must have fallen and is in the surf when it finally took the picture. |
