Mt. Baden Powell

To hike Mt. Baden Powell I had to drive around to the north side of the mountains. I wanted to be at the trailhead around sunrise to get to the top before it got too hot. While driving from the house the marine layer was so thick it was drizzling.

As you can see. no clouds and rain here it is beautiful. This is the last half mile or so to the summit. The trailhead is at 6593 ft. and the summit at 9400 ft. so the hike is an elevation gain of 2807 ft.

At the summit there is a boy scout monument and also a book to sign. The views up here this day were incredible of the Mojave Desert to the north.

To the south you could see the other mountains but not the valley. The marine layer was unusually thick, to about 6,000 feet. But it makes for its own pretty views.

I spent about an hour at the summit eating lunch and enjoying the views. The round trip distance on the hike was 8 miles. I was back down in the parking lot about noon.
