La Purisima was the 11th of the 21 California Missions. It is now a state park located in Lompoc. Of the missions we have visited so far it is one of the most complete. |

La Purisima was restored by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) starting in 1934. While we were there a gentlemen was telling his family about the mission and I overheard him use the tem "we" a couple times. So I asked him is he had worked here with the CCC. He had and proceeded to tell us all about living and working there. If you do the math this guy to be a minimum of 85 yet he hardly looked a day over 65. |

When the CCC restored the building they went to great length to collect history and restore it accurately as it was built. The insides of the walls were reinforced but the outside was built to look exactly as it would have been built. |
