The Crystal Cathedral 

  

click photo to enlarge		 I was in the area for a car show. I happened to look and see the large spire of the Crystal Cathedral. Karen and I have driven past this area a number of times going somewhere else. So, I decided to go see what it was all about. I ended up spending about 2 hours wandering the grounds and taking a tour. I had to take this shot of the VW van because it reminded me a friend of ours Bob Waldmire and his VW van he uses to travel Route 66.

click photo to enlarge		 This the Chapel where Dr.Schuller and his Television show the Hour of Power are filmed. The pipe organ is one of the largest in the world with more then 16,000 pipes. The sound coming out while the organist was practicing was wonderful.

click photo to enlarge		 This is Moses with the Ten Commandments. There is a burning bush back to the left that is kind of hard to see but you can't miss it in person. There was an In Car Worship area that really fascinated me. It was like a Drive in Movie Theater with each row slightly tilted up. Then on the tour I found at that is how Dr. Schuller first started his ministry. He didn't have a church so used a drive in movie theater on Sunday mornings. He liked it so much they continue the practice today. The service is broadcast over your radio and you can sit in your car.
