The Redlands Classic is an annual event that brings professional bike racing
to the Inland Empire. It is a multi day event with different race courses every day.
I chose to go to the Criteruim since they race around a short, technical 1
mile track. This would give me many opportunities to photograph them.

I walked the entire track taking photos from many locations.

Again, like the motorcycle races I wanted to convey movement. It is easy to
set your camera at a very high shutter speed and freeze everything but it
doesn't look natural. I want to slow the shutter down and pan along with
the rider.

I could get hooked on this action photography<grin>. If I had chosen
one of the other tracks where they covered many miles then racers would have
gone by me once and that would have been it. This way I had action for 60
minutes in the women's race and 90 minutes in the men's race.
