Silverton is a blast to the past. There is one paved street. This is
the Grand Imperial Hotel built in the late 1800's where we ate lunch and
surprisingly to us the food was very good. We had walked a little distance from the train
so when we went in it was mostly locals.

Lacey Black, hmm I wonder if that is a given name, was playing the piano for
us. It was just too cool as it was the kind of music you would expect in an
old saloon like this.

Silverton is surrounded by the San Juan Mountains. This is the San Juan
County Courthouse and was built in 1907. Notice the street is not paved.
The one thing missing though is a hitching post.<grin>

I just had to get a picture of both the fire truck and the church. For only
473 residents they sure had a lot of saloons and churches. Maybe to pray for
more beer? Hmmmm
