This is La Posada a restored Harvey House in Winslow Arizona. We stayed here for 2 nights in 2003 and absolutely loved it. I wanted to spend the night in Holbrook in a Tepee at the Wigwam Motel but Karen won out. |

Of course she didn't have to twist my arm too hard. La Posada is just a wonderful experience. It was designed by Mary Jane Coulter. Coulter built and designed it so visitors would have the feeling they were visiting a rich uncle's great hacienda. While all of the original decorations are gone, the new owners have done a wonderful job of decorating it in a similar fashion. Room rates are also very reasonable |

The owners have done and are still doing a great job restoring the place. It is a continuing work in progress and I recommend it to anybody traveling Route 66 through Winslow. |

If it doesn't fit your plans for the night at least stop and eat. The chef they have does a very fine job of having daily specials using local produce and local type foods. |

This is the corner made famous by the Eagles in the song "Take it Easy". We were told that a welder working on the roof of the building managed to set it on fire. The wall and mural still stand and are propped up. |
