Valyermo in the Fall
click photo to enlarge	Much of Southern California was on fire when these pictures were taken in the fall of 2007. So, we decided to go to the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains to go for a hike and get away from the smoke. The pictures on this page were taken near Valyermo. Valyermo is known for the Saint Andrews Abbey. Anyway we were in the area about peak time for color on the trees and the views were quite stunning.
click photo to enlarge	By the time we got to the trail head where we wanted to go hiking we discovered they had closed the forest to all visitors due to the high danger of fire.
click photo to enlarge	Oh well, it did make for a very pretty drive but we did not get to go hiking. Bummer. And Karen says she misses the leaves turning colors. Hmmmm
