While working in the Route 66 Museum most visitors that stop in are traveling west we thought it was a good idea to go visit Route 66 in the San Bernardino area again. The last time we were on this stretch was about 7 years ago. The site of the original McDonalds is in San Bernardino just off 66 and they have a McDonalds Museum there. |

They have quite a large collection of McDonalds history and memorabilia from over the years. They also have a display on Route 66.Well worth the stop if you are in the area. |

The restored California Theater is also just off Route 66. More then anything we do get asked about the Wigwam motel so we wanted to be able to comment on the condition after seeing it first hand. I am happy to report that as of January 2009 it is fairly well kept. Bono's Historic roadside Orange stand is still there too further west. Bono's Italian restaurant is also on the grounds. Peering in the windows it looks like it may get used for special occasions but it is not serving food. The building looks to be in good shape. |
