This picture is on the 3 capes scenic drive along the Oregon cost between Pacific City and Tillamook. The early morning was pretty fogged in but as the morning progressed it burned off. We used a guide we picked up at Portland visitors center.

The lighthouse is the Cape Mears Lighthouse. The light was a five wick oil lamp with a reflector to increase the light. It was turned by a 200 pound lead weight that was wound by a system similar to a grandfather clock. The light could be seen 21 miles at sea.

The pilings in the picture below are in Astoria Oregon. On the tram ride we took they told us the pilings have been there since 1900 and they are still structurally sound. They are left in place because they still build on them.
