This picture is on the 3 capes scenic drive along the Oregon cost between
Pacific City and Tillamook. The early morning was pretty fogged in but as the
morning progressed it burned off. We used a guide we picked up at Portland
visitors center. |

The lighthouse is the Cape Mears Lighthouse. The light was a five wick oil
lamp with a reflector to increase the light. It was turned by a 200 pound
lead weight that was wound by a system similar to a grandfather clock. The
light could be seen 21 miles at sea. |

The pilings in the picture below are in Astoria Oregon. On the tram ride
we took they told us the pilings have been there since 1900 and they are
still structurally sound. They are left in place because they still build
on them. |
