We took a trip to Portland Oregon to use some airline miles I had. Our first
stop was the visitors information center downtown. We then wandered around the
downtown area going over to the area where Portland had what is called cart
food stands to have lunch. From there we went up to Washington Park where the
Japanese Gardens and the International Rose Test Gardens. We were surprised
nothing was in bloom yet since in SCAL we have roses bloom all year. |

So we walked over to the Japanese Gardens. The gardens have 5 different
areas all meant to produce harmony with nature. There was also the
overlook area with a great view of Portland with Mt. Hood in the background. |

After wandering the gardens we went to Portland's pearl district a trendy
area built up from former warehouses and light industrial buildings. It is
now artists galleries, shops, restaurants and warehouses converted to
lofts. I did not take my camera out as I wanted to enjoy exploring. |
