Lester Dale Mine

We were out 4 wheeling using one of Bill Mann's books this one on the Lucerne valley area. We found many of the things listed to be fenced in and marked private. The Lester Dale Mine is east of Lucerne Valley on Old Woman Springs Road.

You pass the Silver Reef Mine on the way there. According to the book there were a number of structures there still in good shape. When we went they were all knocked down and any wood had been used for firewood. The book was written in 2002. The 4 wheel drive system on the truck needs to be used at least once a month to keep it lubricated and it was a nice day for it so we really didn't mind.

The Lester Dale Mine is about 7 or 10 miles off the main road. Much of the road is easily passable in a normal car but there are areas that are not and I would not want to be driving them in 2 wheel mode. At the mine there are still some stone structures standing. The entire place was littered with shot gun shells. We didn't stay long and instead went off exploring other areas.
