Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve

Each spring the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve comes alive with flowers. The most spectacular one is the California Poppy. But each type of wildflower requires different amounts of rain and weather conditions so it is hard to know what may bloom each year.

This year the poppies were coming out pretty good and it looked it might be one of the spectacular years with the fields awash in orange. But then we got a storm that pretty much wiped them out.

The field below is yellow and not the orange I had hoped to see. I have seen many pictures of them but have personally never seen a year yet where the fields are all orange. We did drive the Musical Road in Lancaster a couple times on the way there.
