This California State Park was donated by Arthur Ripley. The park protects and preserves a stand of native Joshua's and junipers which once grew in great abundance throughout the valley. They are about the only ones left in the area as everything else around was cleared for farming and homes.

The park has picnic tables and a nature trail and a couple porta potties and that is about it.

The naming of Joshua as a "tree" is credited to early Mormon settlers who saw the tree with its upraised arms as Joshua leading the Israelites into the Promised Land.
