Senator Highway

Don't be misled by the name, this is no highway. It was a nice drive and for the most part I didn't need 4wheel drive. The Highway is in the Prescott National Forest. Although you should stop and get a map of the forest don't be surprised if they rangers don't have any real information. Every time we have stopped at the Forest Service office in Prescott we have been very disappointed.

This building is at the Groom Creek Trailhead and I believe it to be for group use only. There is a fire tower you can hike to but since the ranger at the forest service was really pretty useless we didn't even know it till I got home.

The Senator Highway was really a very beautiful drive. The road got kind of rough in spots but not bad. I understand after heavy rains it can get really difficult though. Below are some of the ruins of the Senator Mine. But again, the Forest Service will very likely be of no help.
