Chicago

Chicago was our last stop on our big trip for our 20th anniversary that included Seattle, Glacier, Minneapolis and a ride on Amtrak's Empire Builder train. Karen and I both had been to Chicago a long time ago and neither of us thought we would enjoy it, but we did. We of course ate at the famous Lou Malnati's,  Gino's East and Portillo's. For pizza we both liked Lou's sausage pizza best. It was the first time I ever had a Chicago style Hot Dog at Portillo's and it was really good. We have since found out there are 2 locations here in SCAL and I have eaten there twice already.

This is the Cloud Gate sculpture at Millennium Park in Downtown Chicago or sometimes called the bean. The park also contains the Jay Pritzker Pavilion concert venue. The bean is an elliptical sculpture that reflects the city skyline and the clouds above. It is also shaped in such a manner that you can walk under it. We took the Architecture tour on the Chicago River and the next day rode the double decker busses to tour the city.

Out hotel was not far from the Billy Goat Tavern made famous by John Belushi and the Saturday Night Live bunch. So I had to get a picture of that. Since we had eaten enough junk food like pizza and hot dogs we chose not to eat there but did peek inside and it does resemble the old skits they did on it. We got to see Wrigley Field and Barack Obama's house. We both ended up enjoying Chicago a lot and would go back again.
