Downtown Cleveland

Since moving away to California every time I go back to Cleveland I have wanted to get pictures of downtown. But the weather never cooperates. It is either raining of very dark and overcast on days when I have time to go take pictures. One year I finally went at night and took night time pictures of the city. This trip I finally got my chance and this page contains just a few of those pictures. Living in Cleveland you learn to really appreciate it when you get a nice sunny day. Living in southern California you expect every day to be that way and get grumpy when it isn't.

Cleveland is separated by the Cuyahoga River resulting in many bridges to cross the river. There are many different types of lift bridges. This old one had a rust color I wanted to capture but it was very difficult to find a place where I could frame the shot.

The picture in the lower left shows the Detroit Superior bridge carrying vehicle traffic on the upper level and the lower level carries train traffic. Below this large bridge is the Center Street Swing Bridge. It is closed and is currently being repaired. This bridge sits on a round table and rotates out of the way to allow boats go past. Both bridges were built by the King Bridge Company. While in the past Cleveland was known for it's bridges today it is more well known for it waterfront and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
