Wat Thai Temple

Wat Thai Temple is located in North Hollywood. Back in 2006 I had torn an article out of a magazine about a food court held at the temple every weekend. We decided to go 4 years later. Not unusual as I am always finding things to do and filing them away to do later. Before we went I did some research on it though. It seems in 2007 neighbors were successful in getting it shut down or at least pared down a lot. Instead of up to 100 food stands there are now only about 4.

We decided to go anyway for not only the food but the cultural experience. The food... hmm if this was more authentic then what we get at many of the local Thai restaurants then I prefer the local stuff as we were not impressed with the food. It was sitting in large pans like at a buffet table and certainly not freshly prepared as you ordered it.

The temple is very colorful and we saw a lot of interesting things but unfortunately there was not much  in the way of information for visitors. It is obviously an operating temple first and not set up to be a tourist attraction. Too bad as I would have loved to know more about the little buildings with statues and offerings in front of them. When we first arrived there were three Buddhist Monks in the main temple chanting and many people bringing in offerings. All in all interesting to see and experience.
