The water company that supplies our house had a waterwise tour this year. They
featured homes that had installed waterwise landscaping. We are the only
street in our city this company supplies though. When we called out city,
Upland, about doing something like this we were told oh, you can't do that.
Well, we did it anyway. It was the responsible thing to do. |

Anyway we drove to the different yards / gardens featured on the tour to get
ideas. Many of the had really gone to extremes and spent a lot of money
doing so. Most featured some kind of rock. The one on the left had huge
boulders. It was made to look like a dry stream bed. |

Then later in the summer we took out a section of our grass. Next year in
the spring after it has filled in I will post a few pictures. It is
already looking better then what is shown here. We have drip lines to each
plant. No more pop up sprinklers. We not only put this in to save water
but also installed solar on our roof to generate our own power. Just doing
our part to be more green and reduce our carbon footprint. |
