These photos were taken at Riverside's 1st annual Asian Pacific New Years
Festival. I have seen these parades in downtown LA on the news for the last 10
years and have wanted to photograph them but I just never want to go downtown.
So, when I saw Riverside was having a parade I had to go. It was the first
year for the parade and it only lasted at the most, 10 minutes. It was the shortest
parade I have ever seen. |

They had dragons and firecrackers and bands and of course martial arts
groups. They had an Asian market place and Asian food stands. There were
also plenty of demonstrations going on all day and different stages. At
night fall they had a big fireworks show. |

Being the first I am sure it will grow and some things will remain and
others leave. But I expect the parade next year will be larger. But now I
know I need to go downtown LA for their parade in China Town. |
