Norco calls itself Horsetown USA. Their annual air is called Carnival Lights and Horsetown Nights. Well,
we decided to go see the parade figuring it would
surely have a lot more horses in the parade then your average parade.. and it
sure did. There were Indians on horseback, mounted police, many different
nationalities on horseback...rednecks on horseback and on and on... |

I actually wondered if the local high school would have a band on
horseback.. but they didn't. There was one marching band in the parade from
Norco High School. The town of Norco is a charter city which means the city
has a charter. The California Constitution gives cities the power to become
charter cities. The benefit of becoming a charter city is that charter
cities have supreme authority over “municipal affairs.” In other words, a
charter city’s law concerning a municipal affair will trump a state law
governing the same topic In the city charter are the rights of it
citizens to keep animals and many other rights to ensure they remain a
horsetown. |

The woman on the left if from a group that must be part of the carnival
lights I guess. Then in then lower left even the people coming to watch
the parade came on horseback. Instead of concrete sidewalks there are
horse paths. Downtown the businesses have places to tie up your horses. It
is a very unique place. |
