While visiting the Oracle Arizona area one day we decided to drive up to Tonto
National Monument and the Apache Trail. We stopped in Globe Arizona for Karen
to go jewelry shopping. While there we went into the visitors center and the
woman was telling us about this city owned park. Now. we have been to numerous
National Parks in the Indian lands in the 4 corners region of the US and I
kind of wondered... how could a city park compare. |

I am glad I kept an open mind and went to visit this park as it was a
wonderful park and very well maintained. In fact it is one of the best
Indian ruins we have ever visited. We did end up spending some time here and
then did not have time to drive the Apache Trail. Well, I guess that leaves
something for another trip <grin>. |

They also had a botanical gardens on the premise but I am only posting
pictures of the ruins. You can even climb ladders into the large pueblo
building. The picture to the left is taken out the second story window.
Like many of the ancient Indian civilizations in the 4 corners region they
moved on in the 1400s. Was it due to drought caused by global warming? Wait
isn't drought cause by global warming a modern thing? Where is Al Gore
when you need him. Hmmm But it happened
in the 1400s? Naw, can't be. I digress, it is truly a great park and ranks
right up with many of the National Parks. The city of Globe does a
wonderful job with this. |
