Edwards Air Force Base is again open for public tours, search their web site
for details as it changes. You meet a tour bus outside the west gate at an
area called the Century Circle. There is a an restored control tower that was
used from the 1950s up till 1988. |

Century circle has six Century series aircraft, the F-100, F-101, F-102,
F-104, F-105 and F-106. Unfortunately this is the only place you are allowed
to have a camera. You can not take one on the tour. |

The tour takes you all around the base by bus and on the flight line. You
see a short video on the base and it's history. There is a 45 minute stop
at the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum. This tour is the only way the
public can view this wonderful museum on the history of flight. The tour
takes you to NASA where you eat at the base cafeteria for lunch.
Unfortunately due to cuts in funding NASA no longer provides any tours of
information. |
