In the 11 years we have been here in Kalifornia, Hollywood has changed a
lot. The entire Hollywood and Highland Center with the Kodak Theater, now the
Hollywood and Highland Center theater has been built. The El Capitan Theater
has been brought back to life. There are now plenty of places to and eat and
spend your tourist $. We recently took a walking tour of Hollywood from
the local historical society. It took like 5 hours to cover about 1 mile. |

The only issue for me was being down on the street and the way the sun was
it was hard to get an angle for a good photograph. The Pantages theater for
example was fabulous but it was all shaded. Ehhh you takes what you gets I
guess. Some of the old buildings have been torn down, some of them restored
and some need to either be torn down or restored. Walking Hollywood Blvd.
gives to a much better chance to look at and admire some of the old
architecture. |

The tour starts on the corner of Vine and Selma where the old Barn used to
be. In 1913, director Cecil B. DeMille rented a horse barn for $250 a
month, and used it to shoot Hollywood's first full-length feature film, a
Western named "The Squaw Man. The Barn has since been moved across from
the Hollywood Bowl theater and houses the Hollywood Heritage Museum. |
