In the Tehachapi area there are a number of farms that raise Alpacas, Llama's,
Ostriches and other animals. The guy to the left if Dolly Llama. At first he
was named Dalai until they found out he was a she... This guy was at the Field
of Dreams Alpacas. They had the one Llama. She loved following close and
getting right in your face. |

They had a number of Alpacas but they certainly did not get as close as
Dolly. She followed the owner everywhere. They give you a tour of the farm
and all kinds of information on raising the animals. |

The Ostrich photos were taken at Indian Point Ostrich Ranch. At the bottom
this guy is doing a mating dance for us. The young lady giving the tour
said he did not typically do this for visitors so we were lucky. The
Ostrich is the largest bird on earth and as we were told one of the
dumbest. They sell Ostrich meat and leather at the gift shop. They also
have other things like eggs and feathers. While in the Tehachapi area both
the Indian Point Ostrich Ranch and Field of Dreams Alpacas are well worth
stopping for a visit. |
