Whale Watching Trip

We took an all day excursion out of Newport Beach to go whale watching. The
trip we took went over to Two Harbors on Catalina Island where you had about 2
hours to wander around and grab a bite to eat. We have been out on whale
watching trips before and never saw a single whale. But this trip would be
different. |

We saw 5 whales on the way over to Catalina but each time we did they were
on the other side of the boat so I could not get a good view to photograph.
Maybe that was better because I watched instead of having a camera stuck to
my eye. While we did not see any actually jump out of the water we did see
them surface and their huge tails come out. When they blow out air the cloud of
mist they exhale is huge. |

It was our first time on Catalina Island and Two Harbors is a very small
town but they do have a couple places to eat. On the way back to the
mainland and Balboa Island we saw a few hundred dolphins. All in all
it was a fun trip and I would do it again. Both Karen and I fell asleep
coming back but it wasn't a problem because if they saw anything the boat
slowed down and the noise woke you up. |
