We were in Prescott over Memorial Day. One of the things we both enjoy about Prescott is how they embrace their heritage. I saw they were going to have a Memorial Day Observance at Citizen's Cemetery so I went. The city of Prescott was founded in 1864 the same year the cemetery was started.

It was a traditional Memorial Day ceremony, presented by the Yavapai Cemetery Association and based on the historical account of a Memorial Day Observance presented there in 1910. Speakers included state and local dignitaries and public figures. The program includes patriotic music, flag raising, Honor Guard, wreath laying, volley and echo taps. In attendance were veterans organizations, living history groups, the Camp Verde Cavalry and the Veterans Memorial Pipers Corp.
