The Renaissance Pleasure Faire is held at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation area
April though May. We had been to something similar in Ohio and it was a joke.
It was so small with not many performers. This event centers on the English
Renaissance and there are hundreds of costumed people representing the 3 main
classes of people. You had nobility, middle class and peasants. Everybody
seems to be there to have fun and it was sure fun to attend. |

During the English Renaissance the Queen would leave London to escape the
heat and travel to the countryside along with her court. It was a big event,
more important than anything else in your life when the Queen was coming.
Because of this, all are dressed in their best clothing. For the merchants it
means many visitors ( the Faire ) with money to spend. |

Because what we had been to in Ohio was so small I had avoided going to
this. I couldn't see spending the money for something like that. But...this
place is big with all kinds of shops, things to eat and entertainment.
Luckily the day I was there the marine layer was heavy keeping it cool.
Some of the outfits people were wearing sure looked like they could be hot
if the sun was out. |
