The Center for Brain Health was opened in May of 2010 and the building was designed by Frank Gerhy of The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Walt Disney Concert Hall to name just a few. We were able to get a tour of the facility by emailing a contact found on their web site. All of the individual panels and windows are different sizes and shapes so one can imagine the effort putting it all together.

We had no idea what the purpose of the building was we just knew we were intrigued by the design. We came to learn that Larry Ruvo's father, Lou, was a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease. In his fathers memory he wanted a facility to attract the best Doctors and researchers in the world for brain health. The way they operate is very different from other medical facilities. When a patient arrives there are no waiting rooms they are personally escorted to the physicians exam room. The reason is they do not want patients in early stages of Alzheimer's seeing others in more advanced stages and asking their family, is that what is going to happen to me.

Patients are treated with utmost dignity and respect and are being treated by some of the best physicians in the world. When a patient is done with their visit, when they exit the elevator a volunteer greets them and gives them a fresh flower. So when Karen and I left this facility we were extremely impressed with the vision and purpose.
