The Los Angeles Live Steamers operate a 7-1/2" gage model trains every Sunday from 11 AM till 3 PM. We went because Huel Howser had visited the Walt Disney Barn on the same property. While there we also rode the rails. There are a lot of adults riding the trains, not just kids. Beside, I needed to check it out for when my grandson comes to visit. <grin> I am sure he will love it.

Everything on the grounds was built by the LA Steamers, all of the little buildings, bridges etc. They even planted the trees and the grass. They have all different kinds of locomotives; Steam, Diesel and all Electric. The main line is about 1-1/2 miles long. The ties are all made from recycled plastics. They also have a stationary steam plant in the photo at the lower left. It has a 10 HP boiler operating at 150 PSI. They have 7 operating steam engines. There is always somebody there to explain and answer any questions you might have on steam engines.

Just below this text is the Disney Barn. This is the actual barn that was in Walt's back yard in Homby Hills. Walt was a member of the LA Steamers and it was in this barn that he had his workshop and ran the switches for his backyard railroad. The Disney Barn is only open on the third Sunday of each month.
