The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden is a Japanese garden encompassing 1.3
acres on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, in
Long Beach, California. The Japanese-style garden was built through a
donation from Mrs. Loraine Miller Collins in honor of her late husband Earl
Burns Miller. |

The garden is considered a hybrid art form that combines typical elements of
Japanese garden design within the context of its Southern California
location. Whenever we go someplace like Long Beach, an hour from home, I
always try to plan a few activities. On this day we were going to the Museum
of Latin American Art so I also had this o the agenda if we had time. We had
tried to stop here a few years ago but there was something going on and it
was closed. |

The day had a heavy marine layer but the gardens had a lot of visitors.
Watching these little kids feeding the Koi fish reminded us of taking Jr. to
feed the ducks in the Metro Parks back home. The pond was just chock full of
large Koi. The gardens are closed on Saturday's to allow for weddings and
also on Mondays. |
