A Mandir is a house of prayer or worship. This one is part of the BAPS that
they pronounce or say each letter separately. The buildings are really very
spectacular. Inside the Madir and outside, the structure is made of small
individual carvings done in India and shipped to Chino to be assembled like a
huge jigsaw puzzle. The building was 7 years in the making and was inaugurated
in December of 2012. |

They had to get the city to allow them to build it above the city code for
height. The structures combine old eastern design along with very modern
earthquake proof elements. We have been to Mormon Temples, Po Lin Monastery
in Hong Kong, Fo Guang Shan Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple, Mt. Baldy Zen center
and the list goes on so this one being close to us we thought.. hey why not. |

Before climbing the steps to the Mandir you need to remove your shoes. On
the first floor below the Mandir they have a kind of history museum on the
building of the structure that was interesting. It is one religion neither
of us know much about and unfortunately there really was not anybody to
explain much to us. |
