The first year for Riverside holding this parade was 2011 and that year the
parade was pretty short. This year it was much larger. They had dragons,
firecrackers, bands and of course martial arts groups. They had an Asian
market place and Asian food stands. There were also plenty of demonstrations
going on all day and different stages. At night fall they had a big fireworks
show. |

Chinese New Year, Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival is the most important
of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is commonly called “Lunar New Year”,
because it is based on the lunisolar Chinese calendar. Chinese New Year is
the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The
origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance
because of several myths and traditions. |
