Pioche Nevada

When we are on vacation driving form one location to our next stop I will use tools like tripadvisor or AAA web site to locate areas of interest in order that we not just drive non-stop. Then I use Tripadvisor to look for places to eat in advance. There was only one place listed in Picohe and that was the Silver Cafe so that was it. The food was pretty good but what impresses us more was the museums and the old town  look and feel in Pioche.

This picture is inside the Lincoln County Courthouse. There are other interesting things to see it this small town in Nevada. We ended up spending a couple of hours here. Karen is actually sitting in with the rest of the jury in this photo. But sssh don't tell her I posted her picture or I will be in trouble.

Next stop was Cathedral Gorge state park, found on trip advisor, but a woman at the court house in Pioche gave us a lot more information on it so we knew it was another stop. There are little slot canyons like the picture in the lower left. This is very similar to a picture I took in an area at Bryce Canyon National Park called Wall Street. The difference it this is very narrow only 2 feet wide while the one at Bryce was 20 feet wide. Then here you can just get out of your car and walk right into the slot where at Bryce you have a long hike. Our destination for the day is Rachel Nevada and area 51 so we did not have a lot of time to spend here.
