When the NASCAR races came to Fontana and the Auto Club the Southern Ca. AAA, sponsor of the track, offer free tickets for the first day of qualifying. I was able to convince a friend, yes I do have one or two, to take the day off and go with me to the track. He had fun following me around why I acted like a kid hopping in vehicles, signing up to get free t-shirts and even being a little Petty n the picture in the lower left. At least that is what my daughter said to me when I texted her the picture, quit being so Petty. Hmm the nut doesn't fall to far from the tree, another smart as.... But I have to admit it as pretty funny. The cur out I have my face in is Richard Petty.

It really was an enjoyable day and when we went out to watch the qualifying runs we went up and sat in the reserved seats for about an hour before somebody came and checked our tickets to see we belonged  in the cheap seats. But hey by that time we had watched enough of the qualifying runs anyway. I think I may even go back for this event next year on the free day. Reminds me of when my son and I used to go downtown Cleveland to watch the free day of the Cleveland Grand Prix, including the parade.
