Route 66 east of Barstow had a number of areas that flooded out almost 2 years ago. We decided to drive it in order to see what condition the road was in now that is it open again. We stopped at the Bagdad Cafe for breakfast and it was pretty good. You have to have an adventuresome side to eat here. From Ludlow east the road is in pretty good shape but west of Ludlow there are some stretches that are still pretty rough.

According to Albert Okura, owner of the town of Amboy, the Roy's Cafe sign is one of the most photographed signs in the world. There are still a lot of reminders of the history of Route 66 with things like the remains of the road runner retreat and the agricultural inspection station.
